Cohen is known for her striking textiles and paintings incorporating themes of social justice. Her new work is a series of portraits of activists, artists, victims and others within the LGBTQ community. They include images of Christine Jorgensen, Harvey Milk, and RuPaul, among others. Each piece is accompanied by wall text, or incorporates text into the work, describing the individual portrayed and their particular accomplishments and/or challenges. Myles Geiger will be speaking on transgender issues at the Artist Reception.
