Shirley Kern is an abstract painter residing in Princeton, New Jersey and maintains a working studio in nearby Hopewell, New Jersey. Kern received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Johnson State College, Johnson, Vermont in 2002.

She is known for her large vibrant abstract paintings and has recently exhibited her work at Dickinson Hall Art Gallery, Princeton University, NOHO M55 Gallery, New York, New York, SOHO 20, New York and Robert Blackburn Gallery in New York among many other group and solo shows on the East Coast and Midwest. Her works are in many corporate collections.

"I am interested in creating an art work that is alive with emotional interest but has no fixed meaning, open to interpretation by all, similar to works of music and poetry."
