“Internal Compass” is an exhibit by Philadelphia based glassblower and fiber artist, Sara Bakken. The show is inspired by her recent journey to Hangzhou, China for her first international showing. Nature and marine biology have always served as visual inspiration for her texturally rich artwork, so naturally she drew inspiration from the beautiful landscape of West Lake. The lake holds cultural significance and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ethereal and dreamy, the blown glass and silk shibori elements mimic the feeling and tone of this far way world.
